Celebration of Learning

Today we worked hard to finish some work for the Celebration of Learning. The Celebration of Learning is just what the titles suggests, a time for you to celebrate your child's learning so far this year. We will have some Social Studies and writing work in the hallway. In the class there will be Science, Social Studies, and Math activities for you to explore. There are no formal meetings with the teacher at this celebration. The celebration is at 1:30-2:30 and 4:00-6:00. You may chose a time that works best for your family. 

In March, we will have parent teacher conferences where you will be able to book a meeting with your child's teacher. 

 

Immediately following our celebration of learning will be the Montessori PEACE Night. All CJP families are more than welcome to attend. PEACE night, which stands for Parent Education and Conversation Event will take place in the CJP gym. Doors will open at 5:45PM. We are lucky to host Dr. Kelly Moroz, from 6PM - 7PM presenting on anxiety and social skills. This will be followed by time (7 - 7:45PM) to celebrate, share, and network with other parents from your community. Child Care will be provided in the learning commons.

Fort Calgary

Our visit to Fort Calgary today was a huge success. We had a great time and learned lots. 

Hopefully your child has shared a little about their experience. Some of our highlights are:

• Dressing up like a Mountie
• Becoming a Mountie recruit
• Acting in a play about a real criminal
• Scavenger hunt in museum
• Building a log cabin
• Sorting tools and building materials
• Walking around the musuem
• Seeing the Calgary Tower
• Riding the bus

We would also like to say a big thank you to the volunteers who were able to come with us today.

Book Fair

Rooms 20 and 21 will have the opportunity to visit the Scholastic Book Fair on Wednesday and Thursday. The book fair will also be open during the Celebration of Learning on Thursday.

Fort Calgary & Picture Day

We are going on our field trip to Fort Calgary tomorrow. 

Please send your child with a waste free lunch tomorrow. 

We will not have time for a snack so please ensure your child has had a hearty breakfast. 

Please be on time. We will be leaving once we have completed the attendance. 

Our class photo will be taken once we return from the field trip.

My Community

On Thursday, we will be discussing and recording what community we live in. Please help your child learn the name of their community. You could record this and place a note in your child's communication folder if they are having difficulties remembering.
